Germany
It seems easier at times to minister in third world countries-the physical needs are tremendous and the people are desperate for hope. They will stop and listen because they need something to hold on to, something to look forward to, somewhere to place their faith. It is not so easy in countries where people appear to have everything they need. Germany is one of the wealthier countries in the world, but they still need the hope of a Savior. The outreach for this population is different, and Helping Hands is working to reach out in ways that will impact the country.
As is our vision, we work with local churches, pastors, and leaders, forming strategic partnerships which allow us to be more effective. In March 2009, we joined with several churches and individuals for a "Mission 3:16" youth event. Volunteers from several churches in the U.S. and Germany worked together to create an incredible weekend for the youth of Germany.
"Highway 53," a praise and worship band from Chestnut Mountain Church in Gainesville, Georgia did an awesome job, with concerts on Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening. A drama team from Dade City, Florida worked with local church youth groups to train them in evangelistic dramas, and these dramas were presented at various times during the weekend. We also held workshops about everything from missions, to planning youth camps, to planning praise and worship in a church.
Our vision is to expand our youth mission program in Germany and continue working with local churches to train leaders, with the hopes of planting Biblically sound churches in the future.
