God's vision for Helping Hands
In a hotel room in Cochabamba, Bolivia, God called Drs. Kowalske and Brenda Kowalske into full-time mission work. Thus came the vision for Helping Hands Foreign Missions. We want to tell the world about Jesus. As Helping Hands, we simply want to use the gifts and talents God has given us – including construction, medical, organization, and teaching – to assist these ministries and the missionaries.
During our mission trips to other countries, we continually see needs that are not being met, for many reasons – lack of funds, lack of personnel, lack of support, insufficient supplies. And the need is so great….thousands of people are dying daily without ever hearing the name of Jesus. We want to use our skills to help meet these needs. Our “helping hands” could reach into any country, and involve construction, medical, financial, or other forms of assistance. Our ministry spans many aspects of Christian outreach. We are not limited to one evangelistic method, but instead are open to various avenues that can be effectively used to reach people for Christ. We are not an isolated ministry, rather our hands and our hearts are open to Christian ministries that need our help.
In Matthew 25:14-29, Jesus tells the parable of the talents. The master divided the talents among his servants according to their abilities. The talents represent any kind of resources we are given – skills, spiritual gifts, money, time. God gives all His children “talents” according to our abilities – no more or no less than we can handle. The issue is not how much we have, but how wisely we use what we have to serve God completely. We want to honor and glorify God by using wisely what He has blessed us with. We have committed everything we have to further His kingdom.
We also want to facilitate the involvement of others around the world in these ministries. Everyone is blessed with different “talents.” Many men can rebuild a car engine, but others can’t change their oil. Some can figure the national debt, but others can’t balance their checkbook. One woman can whip up a 5-course meal while reading Hemingway, and another keeps McDonalds in business. Some Christians’ ministry may be prayer support, others may be financial, some can “go into all the world.” Whatever your talents, we want to facilitate your participation in the Great Commission.
As Christians, we have accepted Jesus as not only our Savior, but as the Lord of our lives. If we examine how we use our resources, would our Lord be satisfied? We will go wherever our ministry can be the most effective at reaching people for Christ, and most importantly, reaching those who have never had a chance to hear the gospel.
We encourage you to ask yourself the same question – is the Lord satisfied with how you use the resources – time, talent, and money – that He has given you?
