July 2009 April 2009 · CONSTRUCTION. In the village of Busia, we worked on a pastorate for Pastor Moses Barasa, put in electricity, and painted. The house is lacking doors and windows, and a cement floor (now has gravel/dirt.) We expect Moses, his wife Rose, and their 7 children to move in within the next 2 months. We also did some painting on classrooms at Busia Calvary Christian Orphan School; and in the village of Soroti, helped to paint a church, "The Rock," as we worked hand in hand with Pastor Richard Otim. · MEDICAL. Lots and lots of diseases in Africa - we did medical checks on several hundred children at Busia Calvary Christian Orphan School; Grace Calvary Orphan School; and Namungodi Orphan School. We also held a general medical clinic in the village of Soroti, where our team saw around 500 patients. We share the gospel, giving the people spiritual as well as physical help. · CHILDREN - With the help of our sponsors, we support around 1000 children in Uganda. During our visit, we gave out gifts from the sponsors (every child gets something, even if they don't have a sponsor); did interviews and took photos for the sponsors; and just hung out and loved on the children. Many of them are from the streets and the one meal they receive at school is the only meal of the day. Thank you to all of our sponsors, and to those who support the work of Helping Hands. We also did Vacation Bible School in the village of Soroti at 2 different churches, ministering to several hundred children and youth. · CHURCH PLANTS/REVIVALS - We now are working with 57 church plants in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. We visited several of these, had 2 baptism services with over 100 people baptized, and held revival services at night. What a blessing to worship in Swahili with the people of Africa. Come and join us on our next trip --- click here for more information. · TEACHING - We were honored to have 3 pastors from Gainesville, GA join us to help with our Pastor and Leader training - Pastor Ken Miller and Pastor Marty Woodall of Chestnut Mt. Church, and Pastor Kevin Ross of Blackshear Place Baptist Church all did a wonderful job in the training program. There was a seminar entitled "The Shepherd and the Sheep," a marriage seminar, and a seminar for youth leaders. This is a vital part of the mission that we have in Africa, and we have plans to expand this work. January 2009 Youth Camp took place during the month of January at the Christian Complex in Cochabamba, Bolivia. During the first two weeks, almost 1000 children attended camp, enjoying sports, silly games, and also hearing about the hope of Christ. Many received Christ or re-dedicated their lives to Christ. December 2008 November 22, 2008 A graduation ceremony for Helping Hands Pastor and Leader Training Program was held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, South America.24 students completed the 2-year program consisting of ten 16-hour seminars on subjects such as Theology and Overviews of the Old and New Testaments.
